Music makes memories

“They give me this rush. The adrenaline of seeing an artist you’ve really been wanting to see, the loudness, the excitement, the atmosphere, and the crowd give me an all around wonderful feeling,” says senior Brynna Hollins.

When some students think of summer, they might think of friends, get togethers, swimming, barbecues, and ice cream. Others spend their entire summer following their favorite bands. “My favorite part about a concert is when the lights go down, everyone screams at the top of their lungs, the anticipation heightens, and the band makes a grand entrance,” Hollins reflects. “In May 2015, I went and saw All Time Low/Issues/Tonight Alive/State Champs. During Tonight Alive, [lead singer] Jenna gave the most touching speech before a song called “What are You so Scared of?” A line that she said has stuck with me for a long time. ‘I refuse to live in fear of someone else’s judgement.’”
