Nominated for the best foreign film, sci-fi film of the year, favorite dramatic film, and best family film, “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” has taken the theater by storm. Released on September 30, 2016, this movie was directed by director Tim Burton, who is known for his many and creepy films. This movie was based on the book written by Ransom Riggs.

The book, Miss Peregrine’s Home forPeculiar Children, is about a boy named Jacob who’s grandpa told him stories about other children. He called them “peculiar,” and they apparently had special powers. At first, Jacob believed everything he said because his grandpa made it sound so real. Then, he started to get made fun of at school when he told people the stories that he was told. He felt very betrayed.

One day at work, Jacob got a weird call from his grandpa. He sounded very anxious. He took off the rest of work to check on his grandpa and went to his grandpa’s house to find his grandpa in the backyard with blood all over him. His last words were a cryptic message. Jacob was to go to the island and find the bird (Miss Peregrine) and tell them all what happened.

Overall, I thought the movie was great. The actors played the book characters well. I would recommend this to anyone who likes science-fiction movies.
