Runners Compete At State

The Iola High School cross country teams did rather well this year. The Mustangs and Fillies lost two of their top five runners and still managed to have a successful season.
Coach Marv Smith explained that “the boys had enough depth to overcome the injuries for state, but the girls lost their second-best runner.”
The boys’ Pioneer League champion was Tyler Powelson, with Trent Latta coming in second and Jeremy Spears at fourth.
Abigail Taylor was second in the league for the girls’ team. The girls’ team did not score at any meets due to a lack of runners.
