On Tuesday, March 28, the Iola softball team traveled to Burlington. The varsity team won one and lost one. “After last year, with the whole team only hitting one home run, Chloe Gardner hit the first pitch she saw over the left field fence. During her next at-bat in the third inning, she hit another home run to left field,” says coach Chris Weide. “The second game, the girl’s made some great plays to help get the win. Sierra Snavely’s knuckle was also great to see,” says Weide.

“I feel that we played well overall against a very good Burlington team. We all made some mistakes in the first game, but we pulled together and got a huge win in the second game. I am most looking forward this year to seeing who will step and assume whatever role they have, and help the team be great. This team has the potential to go a long way,” concludes Weide.

Tomorrow’s games have been postponed until further notice.
