Hang on for a minute...we're trying to find some more stories you might like.

The Mustangs found success in Central Heights last week with 3 victories over a mix of in and out of league opponents. Iola fans finally got to see the impressive roster in action and saw some clutch showings out of a pair of seniors, Evan Sigg and Ethan Holloway. It was evident that no one was going to stop the senior bulk.

“The game plan wasn’t set up to specifically get me the ball. I was just trying to do my job on the court,” Sigg said.

Throughout the tournament. The squad carved up defense after defense like a Halloween pumpkin.  None of the games were hotly contested by any means. The scores are as follows: Iola: 63, Central Heights: 28; Iola: 60, Osawatomie: 43; Iola: 67, Santa Fe Trail: 53.

The Mustangs were off to a hot start until last night’s nail biting loss against Burlington.   “There’s always more to prove. We’re always trying to get better. In practice, coach always talks about shooting for perfection,” said Sigg.

The next match up for Iola is this Friday at home, facing off against the Prairie View Buffaloes. The Buffaloes are 2-1 so far this year and will be looking to maintain their strong start against the Mustangs.
