Marching into a new season
September 12, 2014
The IHS Marching Mustangs have gotten a head start to their marching band season with the annual Band Boot Camp. During this time, the band began training hard for the exciting season ahead of them.
“The purpose of boot camp is to get everybody together as a group and to bond as a band,” says director Matt Kleopfer; “It makes rehearsal so much easier during the year when everyone is on the same page. And every year we’ve had band camp, it’s gotten better. We’ve gotten more done, more kids have shown up every year, and kids who weren’t at camp catch on so much faster.”
“It’s also physical endurance training, not just music but the visual part of it.” Kleopfer goes on to say. “It’s physically tough, it’s mentally tough.”
Kleopfer is excited to the completed work of their 2014 show titled “The Patriarch”, saying it quiet more evolved than the 2013 production of “Battle Cry”.
“The music is better, the drill is better, the performers are better, and all around I think its a much better product, and I can’t wait to take it on the road to San Antonio.”
