Iola High School has a new class in the fine arts department, thanks to the Safe and Supportive Schools (S3) grant.

Students are now able to take a new Video Production class with Doug Kerr. In the course, they learn the skills related to video broadcasting, filming and video editing.

A couple of weeks ago, the class began creating broadcasts featuring general news and important announcements that are viewed by IHS students twice a week during seminar. The yearlong class includes juniors Clara Wicoff, Mason Key, Valaree Burtnett and sophomores Jakob Holloway, Taylor Stout, Megan Klubek, Kristen Lieurance and Kyler Tolth.

“I hope that we can build the program to have more frequent and regular broadcasts with special effects and better use of our computer software,” junior Wicoff said.

The announcements are shown on Tuesdays and Fridays during seminar so make sure to stay up to date with the news in our school.
